Country Director – South Africa
The Business
Annexio (LottoGo) is a global industry leading lottery betting and online gaming company who is seeking a Country Director to lead our start-up South Africa branch, supporting the company strategy as we grow the business.
The Role
The Country Director will be the key focal point in South Africa for the business and assume responsibility for liaising with the Western Cape regulatory bodies in relation to all queries, reviews, updates and issues, ensuring the business adheres to all legal and regulatory standards and requirements required within the jurisdiction.
With experience of managing a start-up business within the Western Cape, the incumbent will be responsible for the set-up of the branch, ensuring the office premises, IT infrastructure and people resource are in place to ensure quality service id delivered from the local team.
The Country Director will primarily be required to maintain effective relationships with key personnel at Head Office in IOM and other locations, ensuring the operation in South Africa is fully aligned to the overall organisation’s objectives and longer term goals.
The individual must have discretion, confidentiality, integrity and interact with all internal or external contacts of the business at a professional level with this role being representative of the Directors of Annexio locally.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the on-line gaming business in South Africa, ensuring all regulatory and legal requirements are adhered to and the logistics to deliver day to day operational service and support are in place;
Proven experience, sector knowledge and ability to actively seek out and implement revenue growth opportunities within the Western Cape ;
The ability to interpret marketing trends, making recommendations to the board of directors on possible opportunities;
Establish and maintain relationships with third party payment processing companies and ensure the company contracts on most favoured contractual terms;
Liaise with local authorities to establish and implement the regulatory requirements, standards, processes, and procedures and ensure new branch is fully compliant;
Act as the focal point locally for all queries or business matters or issues raised by local authorities and the Regulatory bodies within the Western Cape, South Africa;
Taking responsibility for locally allocated budgets (e.g. charitable donations and delivery of agreed economic benefits to the western cape, under the B-BBE scorecard)
Manage relations with local suppliers (e.g. Regus for the office space);
To foster the company's business relationships with suppliers, customers, and others; the impact of the company's operations on the community and the environment;
Maintain records of statistical information that may be required by the business or local regulators;
Support with the commitments and actions required under the B-BBE scorecard reviews and assessments;
To avoid conflicts (or possible conflicts) between the interests of the director and those of the company.
Support the Head Office management team, as required, locally, with the day-to-day operational activities of the branch/local employees, to deliver a highly effective service.
Support Head Office with the implementation and maintenance of company policies and procedures ensuring these remain accurate and abide by jurisdictional requirements;
Maintain good practices and procedures of Health and Safety within the branch office
Ensure close effective relationships are maintained with IT Support locally to ensure effective and robust IT infrastructure is in place to deliver a quality service and ensure IT security systems exists to minimise/eliminate risks.
Ad hoc tasks and support to other departments, head-office, as required
Human Resources
Involvement in new employee inductions covering building tour, health and safety requirements including fire procedures for local branch
Support the HR team with local onboarding of employees, including recruitment drives, as required
Support the HR team with any employee relation issues locally, as required
Support implementation and guidance on company policy with local employees, as required
Experience and Qualities:
Essential:
Experience of managing ‘start-up’ businesses within the Western Cape, essential
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability and willingness to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
To obtain and always maintain a Personal Management Licence, to the standard set by WCGRB
A motivated, meticulous, and highly-organised self-starter with an outstanding work ethic
Ability to be proactive and take the initiative
High integrity, discretion and trustworthy as the individual will be party to confidential sensitive information
Tact and diplomacy
Ability to communicate and negotiate successfully with colleagues at all levels across different time zones and cultures.

Excellent English, Oral and Written communication skills
Advantageous:
Experience of working within the e-gaming sector
Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies would be a distinct advantage
